Re: Auxiliary Seniority Calculations Vote
The vote on a new proposal that uses pensionable service to calculate Auxiliary Seniority will be conducted electronically by Simply Voting. The vote will run from September 17, 2024, at noon until September 25, 2024, at noon.
BACKGROUND
- AUX hours of employees who converted to RFT prior to 13-Dec-2023 are not currently included in AUX seniority calculations
- E-Comm does not have employment records prior to the transition to the Dayforce HCM system in 2018
- The Municipal Pension Plan has pensionable service data up to 13-Dec-2023. The seniority date for staff who converted from AUX to RFT since 13-Dec-2023 would be calculated by dividing the total of all Straight Time or Public Holiday Premium hours (including hours of paid leave and excluding all hours paid at an overtime rate of pay) by the full-time yearly hours of the Group to which the employee is joining (2009 for Group 2 or 2088 for Group 1) then counting back to the seniority date based on a 365 day year.
- Seniority hours for staff converting from RFT to AUX are calculated by multiplying years worked from the seniority date by the full-time yearly hours of the employee’s RFT Group (2009 for Group 2 or 2088 for Group 1)
PROPOSAL
- Management will re-assess seniority dates for members who converted from AUX to RFT prior to 13-Dec-2023 upon the member’s request using pensionable service as reported by the Municipal Pension Plan.
- Members who were AUX as of 13-Dec-2023, instead of multiplying years worked by hours worked, this proposal is to calculate seniority hours using pensionable service as reported by the Municipal Pension Plan.
You will receive voting instructions by email on September 17, 2024. You will be asked if you are in favour of the new method of calculating auxiliary seniority or if you are opposed to the new method of calculating auxiliary seniority.
